Choosing a Topic
You would think choosing a topic would be a very easy process. Sometimes it can be easy but other times it can be the most challenging part of creating a website.
What is a good topic to start out with?
Start with a topic that you love and you have a lot of experience with and that you love. The more you know about the topic the more you can write about it.
For example: If you pick baseball and you have never played baseball in your life, that would not be a good topic to make a website of. It will be very obvious that you do not know anything about the topic and people will be very turned off your website.
Now if you pick a topic you know a lot about, it will be a lot easier to educate people and therefore the people visiting your site will be more interested in your site and maybe book mark it, revisit it and tell their friends. That is the real way to get your website popular.
Registering a Domain Name
There are thousands upon thousands of website's on the internet, and many places that you can register a website. Choosing a website name should take a lot of time, you should never make a website name without thinking it through for a good day or two. goDaddy and domainswithus are two good website providers

If you are making a website about cell phones, the name of your website should have something to do with cell phones that is easy to spell and remember. If you are educating people about cell phones you could make the domain name something like CellPhoneInfo.com. It would not make much sense to make a domain name called PurplePillarsPalace.com. Who would really remember a name like that when they are trying to think of a cell phone website?
.com vs others
Using a .com will increase the traffic to your site. Google will respect your site more and put you higher up in the ranks, and most people when they here a name of a site they assume it is a .com. So if mike told jimmy, "hey check out this site i found, its called cellphoneinfo." Jimmy would most likely go to cellphoneinfo.com not .org or .info
Yet it may be a little harder to find the website name you want using a .com but, it is well worth it in the end.
Finding a Web Host
There are many web hosts out there. Most of the websites that you register your domain name with will also have a hosting plan. Such as GoDaddy
If you don't know what a web host is, it is a website that will basically host your domain name so you can upload your internet pages from DreamWeaver or CoffeeCup on to the web.
Web hosting does cost about $5 a month but it is well worth it if you are going to be making a site with pictures, videos and multiple pages. If you are just creating a website that is for personal use, then i suggest you just go with a free web designer, such as FreeWebs.com
Free website's vs Paid Web domains and hosts
Free website's are good if you are just making a quick website, They are very easy to work with, you wont need any tutorials or anything. You just type in what you want it to say and then click publish. You also don't have to pay the yearly $9.99 and the monthly $3.99 for the domain name and web hosting.
downsides of free website's are that..
1. You don't get an independent name,you would get something more like www.freewebpage.cellphoneinfo.com
2. You can not put much personalization on your website, your website will look the same as everyone else's.
3. You have annoying ads on your website that they put up and you are not even getting paid for them!
Why would you want to use a website for free when you can pay for a website then make your money plus a great income back with Google Adsense and other programs that pay you to put small ads on your page
Paid Domains and Hosts advantages...
1. You can upload directly from your coffee cup or dreamweaver program.
2. You can put as much juice into your website as you want, literally have thousands of pages, videos and pictures.
3. You are able to post your own ads from google adsense and make a great income.
